Thrown from a Scottish native stoneware clay blend with white slip and a mixed wood-ash glaze.
When it was freshly thrown I gently squashed the vase to distort the form.
The finish on the ash glaze is very dependent on thickness of application and the surface it is applied on. It shows subtle variations in texture and colour from rusty matt through to glassy pale green. Inclusions in the clay body speckle and melt in the firing, adding further interest to the surface.
