Thrown from a Scottish native stoneware clay blend with white slip and a mixed ash glaze.
When it was freshly thrown I gently squashed the vase to distort the form.
Differences in thickness of the white slip (applied after throwing when the clay has firmed up) and the ash-glaze lead to the variations in surface across this small vase. Inclusions in the clay body speckle and melt in the firing, adding further interest to the surface.
